WHAT IS SONGFINDERS?
Songfinders is an immersive and inspiring 4-day camp for kids ages 8-13 who are interested in music-making. Participants will learn the basics of songwriting, form a band, and collaborate on an original song together. They will record their song, and create artwork for their band that includes a logo, album cover, and t-shirt design.
DATES
August 4-7th, 2026 (Tuesday-Friday), running daily from 9AM-3PM.
LOCATION
Songfinders is located in the heart of Vancouver’s Strathcona neighborhood, at 407 Heatley Avenue in Vancouver, BC.
TEAM
Songfinders is the creation of local singer-songwriters and music educators Jenny Banai and Zaac Pick. Both have extensive experience in music education for young people, as well as decades of performance and songwriting expertise to offer.
Many of their songs have been featured in numerous television show soundtracks, garnered national media coverage and radio play, as well as receiving numerous nominations and awards.
PRE-REQUIREMENTS
An interest in writing songs, and a love of music! Basic experience singing, or playing an instrument is a bonus.
SCHEDULE
* Camp runs Tuesday to Friday, 9am - 3pm each day
* Drop off is no earlier than 8:45am each day
* Pick up is no later than 3:15pm each day
* Each day will consist of music education workshops, songwriting, recording sessions, outdoor play time, practice time & fun music-based games/activities
WHAT TO BRING
* Campers must bring their own (NUT-FREE) lunch, snacks and water bottle labeled with their name each day.
* Appropriate clothing and footwear for the weather and playing outside, as well as being indoors.
* We provide all instruments needed for the duration of the camp. However, if your child already has their own guitar, uke, or bass guitar that they would like to use, please have them bring it with them to camp.
* Please note that campers may rotate through and play different instruments throughout the camp, depending on the needs of the group.
FRIDAY LISTENING PARTY
On Friday, campers will a listening party for family and friends to hear the songs they’ve been working on all week. The show will take place at the camp studio at 2pm. We will be providing more details on the first day of camp.
DROP OFF + PICK UP
Free and paid parking is available on the surrounding streets, though be aware the south side of Hastings St. is a tow-away zone from 3pm-6pm. One or both of us will be outside on street level to meet you and your child each day, and again at pickup time. Please drop them off directly with us, rather than dropping them off nearby. A parent or guardian must be present to pick up each camper. We are unable to let students leave the building on their own at any time, or to meet you on the street.
STUDENT SAFETY
Students are not permitted to leave the facility at ANY time on their own, and must be picked up by a parent or guardian at the end time.
CANCELLATION POLICY
Cancellations more than seven days before the first day of camp will receive a full refund. Cancellations between 6 days and 24 hours prior to the start of camp will receive a 50% refund. No refunds are provided for cancellations less than 24 hours prior to the start of camp. In the event that SONGFINDER must cancel a camp for any reason (such as not enough campers), a full refund will be provided. To cancel, please email us at songfinder@gmail.com.
